White River Health Care
The rock bluffs rising up from the
famous White River were originally
calico-colored, thus the name given to
our community by French trappers
and hunters.  White River Health Care
is located on the bluffs with a
fantastic view of the surrounding
Ozark National Forest and mountains.

Incorporated in 1905, Calico Rock was a well-known port of call for riverboats and traders.  Many in
our area grew cotton and corn and traded their harvest for goods on the banks of the White River.  In
the early 1900s, Calico Rock became a railroad boom town and was known as much for the colorful
characters carousing in Peppersauce Alley.  Today, Calico Rock is a thriving, peaceful community
welcoming scores of fishermen and visitors each year.
